Yogyakarta, October 20, 2024 – In a collaborative effort to advance healthcare, the Department of Cardiology and Vascular Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing (FKKMK) at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), in partnership with the Jogja branch of the Indonesian Heart Association (PERKI Jogja), successfully hosted the Jogja International Cardiovascular Topic Series (JINCARTOS) on October 20, 2024. This symposium, held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Hotel Tentrem, Yogyakarta, focused on the theme “Advanced Care in Heart Failure and Pulmonary Hypertension.”
The event featured international experts, including Prof. Ganesan Karthikeyan, MD, Ph.D., Assoc. Prof. Konlawij Trongtakul, MD, and Prof. Noriaki Emoto, MD, Ph.D. The comprehensive agenda included 10 symposium sessions covering the latest advancements in heart failure management and pulmonary hypertension treatment, spotlighting evidence-based approaches and innovations in cardiovascular care.
The symposium’s emphasis on advanced cardiovascular care aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being. By focusing on cutting-edge strategies for managing chronic cardiovascular conditions like heart failure and pulmonary hypertension, JINCARTOS contributes to improving health outcomes, reducing mortality, and enhancing the quality of life for those impacted by cardiovascular disease. Additionally, the event highlighted the importance of SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, underscoring the significance of international collaboration in tackling global health issues.
With JINCARTOS 2024, UGM and PERKI Jogja have provided a platform for medical professionals, researchers, and students to engage in knowledge-sharing and dialogue on critical advancements in cardiovascular care. This symposium marks another step forward in addressing complex cardiovascular challenges, reinforcing Indonesia’s commitment to achieving SDGs by enhancing healthcare quality and accessibility.
